Your choice
Stories uses necessary cookies for sign-in and to remember a refusal of optional analytics. Without analytics consent, events use a new random ID for every event: these counts cannot show return visits or an individual journey. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable all analytics collection.
If you accept analytics, a first-party, HttpOnly cookie named stories_analytics lasts up to 180 days. It contains a random token. Our server stores a hash of this token, a separate random analytics ID, the notice version and consent dates. We send events to PostHog in the EU through our server. Your browser does not contact PostHog directly.
What we measure
Page categories (home, pricing, book), pricing interactions, successful sign-up, book creation, recording saves, generated stories and PDF exports. With consent, these events can show repeat visits and conversion steps in this browser. We never attach your account ID, email, name, book title, text, audio, full URL, IP address or exact location. Session replay and automatic interaction recording are disabled. No cross-device identification is used.
Changing your choice
Open Privacy settings in the footer to accept, decline or withdraw. Declining does not limit the site. Withdrawal clears the analytics cookie and immediately stops new linked events; we queue deletion of previous linked events for automatic processing and verification. A request is not proof of completed deletion. Accepting again creates a new ID; we do not link old anonymous counts or the previous ID. Browser storage removal, expiration or a new notice version also require fresh consent.
The preference cookie stories_analytics_choice remembers a refusal for 180 days and contains no unique identifier. Consent choices do not change the regional restrictions on new registrations, AI processing or purchases. Existing book access, export and deletion remain available.
Our background worker starts erasure after a 24-hour ingestion grace period. PostHog processes deletion asynchronously. We confirm completion only after two fresh checks, at least 24 hours apart, find no linked events or profile. Provider failures remain pending and are retried. To erase events that have no profile, we may temporarily create an empty technical profile using only the same random ID, solely to delete it and its events. No account information is added. New consent always uses a new ID.
Connecting ChatGPT
When you connect ChatGPT, you choose one book and grant permission to read its approved chapters, create private drafts, or both. Stories sends only requested approved chapter titles and text, never recordings or newer private edits. Saving from ChatGPT stores only the title and text you ask to save. Written drafts remain until you delete them; your family cannot read them until you approve them in Stories.
Do not send medical records, government identifiers, passwords or other secrets through this connection. Connection credentials expire and are stored as hashes. We do not send book text or tokens to analytics.Disconnect ChatGPT to stop future access. Disconnecting or deleting a book does not delete content already delivered to a ChatGPT conversation; manage that content in ChatGPT.
Your books
Books and audio remain separate from analytics. Original audio expires according to your plan; transcripts and written stories remain until you delete them. Sign-in and security data are necessary to provide and protect your account.
